LS Cable & System announced on the 24th that it will fully expand its offshore wind power-related business in cooperation with its subsidiaries, Gaon Cable, LS EcoEnergy, LS Materials, and LS Marine Solution.
Starting with LS Materials on the 24th, these four subsidiaries plan to reflect ‘investment in and operation and technology development of offshore wind power and energy-related businesses’ in their business objectives through each company’s general shareholders’ meetings.
Through this process, LS Cable & System plans to strengthen its competitiveness throughout the value chain of the offshore wind power industry and expand its eco-friendly energy portfolio.
By expanding its business, LS Cable plans to proactively respond to market expansion trends such as the promulgation of the Special Act on Offshore Wind Power and the promotion of the West Coast Energy Expressway. LS Cable & System is the only Korean company to have built an HVDC submarine transmission network, and it plans to lead the offshore wind power market based on this experience.
LS Cable & System is expanding its business in various areas, from submarine cable production to cable laying, the supply of core components, and maintenance. The company plans to maximize synergy through organic cooperation with its subsidiaries to further strengthen its position in the offshore wind power industry.
LS Materials has been supplying ultracapacitors (UC) for the pitch control system of wind power generators and is currently pushing ahead with the supply of grid systems essential for the stabilization of the renewable energy grid.
Gaon Cable and LS EcoEnergy will expand their investments and operations in submarine cable and offshore wind power-related businesses. The two companies will strengthen investments in submarine cable production and play the key supply chain roles.
LS Marine Solution is seeking to participate in ship operation businesses related to offshore wind power and offshore plants. Based on its dedicated vessels and laying capabilities, the company plans to respond actively to the demand for an expansion of offshore wind power and the construction of submarine power grids.
